Belly cover
I've got a couple cracks in the under body plastic engine cover. Does anyone know what type of plastic it is made from? I've got a small plastic welder and need to know the material so the plastics match up.

OP, can you provide a link to this "plastic welder" that you mentioned? I find the concept fascinating. Instead of trying to repair the shield you might conside getting aused one.

mine hangs a little, i have a missing screw on one of the sides. if i don't find another screw I'm thinking of just taking it off. don't mean to thread jack but does it really matter having that under there?

Mine is in pretty bad shape too. One large crack and several of the screw holes have corroded so that the screws heads are no longer wide enough to hold it in place. I also thing that the techs changing my oil are getting lazy and just ripping it down.
I tried repairing with some epoxy, but I wish it looked better.

i took mine off over a year ago. the only thing it does is collect dirt and oil if you are leaking something.
you know i would personally have it off. because if my car is leaking something i would rather see the first few drops on the driveway and then investigate/fix the issue rather then have a failure when i least expect it.
the only use for the shield i see is to cover the alternator from water and other conditions since it is all the way on the bottom of the motor. if you drive through some deep water without the cover there is a greater chance of damage.
but either way the plastic is most likely ABS as OLT stated.
