Here is my 2 centavos;

I put the purple dragon on my sc400 last summer. My brother installed it, and apparently he needed to "shave" the bolt heads just a bit, but wasn't aware of it. Driving home from the salt mines, about a week later, I was doing about 115-120 (to see if the top end would be afftected) when the front tranny seal blew. That was a major mess. Went back to precision, and they offered an exchange T/C without hassle. I had the replacement installed, this time making sure the bolt heads were cut down per percisions directions. So far, no problems. Off the line performance is a bit quicker, as I crushed a 740IL the othe day for the first 100 yards, but top end will not be improved. Shifting is almost the same.

If you want an increase in off the line zip, the $800.00 or so bucks + installation is worth it. Don't expect miracles however, as this is still a luxury car which needs a lot more goodies to make it a real performer. You will have a little more of the "wow" factor, so if that's what you want, go for it!

What other modifications do you have? Does the car still feel like a luxury car?

Right now, I have the K&N intake filter, 245 series tires. I also have a nitrous kit which I am debating to put on this, or my next car. I would like to get some suspension stiffing componets such as the strut tower braces, but lowering is a no no. I lowered my 928, and regreted it every time I drove it. Bottoming out over bumps drove me crazy, and I will not repeat that with this car.

It is still very much a luxury ride, as I have the 928 for real fun.

Thumbs up

Here is their WEB site. I can't remember the service rep. I spoke with who took care of me, but I do remember he was very cooperative, and stood behind their product. They reworked my covertor for the cost of shipping even though I bought on E-bay used. A top notch customer service group and real quality products.

They are not cheap, but they are great products.

Default I have a torque converter

I bought the dragon torque converter through swift-racing.

I have a 93 SC400 w/Rod Millen air intake and magnaflow exhaust.
My car had NO punch before the torque converter.

WITH it, my car punches forward just as much as a stock GS400 will and I can pretty much hang w/a GS4 for up to 60mph(then it pulls away mightily)

WITHOUT the TC, there is NO chance for the car to do anything.

I think it's well worth the investment to install the torque converter.

Default ALSO

There are no bad after affects of having the torque converter

My SC has 140K on it. I have had the torque conveter in for 50K of that 140 and no problems. Just a lot more fun.

The only sad thing, is that I'm kinda USED to the power now and am hungry for more. =)

I have the Precision Ind. TC from Swift Racing.

You can find their phone # at www.swiftracing.com

I highly reccomend it. Pure off the line improvement. Its like a whole new car. For those of us used to power happy sports cars, the TC is probably the closest we'll ever get w/ a lex w/o a turbo or SC.

How do you think the weapon r ecu would react with a torque converter? Do you see any problems with the shift points. Might it be too hard on the transmission?

I hope not.

The ecu will have no affect on the TC or vice versa.

The TC does not affect shifting, so the ECU will do the same reguardless.

The TC for the 300 (I beleive) is the same as the 400. Justy call Swift and they will let you know. The benifits are equal reguardless of engine.
