Hey, i was wondering if anyone had any idea how a straightpiped SC4 sounds? Has anyone on the forum tried it? Is it too loud? Does it sound just absolutely amazing lol? Resonator delete sounds awsome on my 400, and it took me a while to get used to it but now im there. A friend of mine straightpiped a 2008 328i and it sounds absolutely exotic so i was thinking how good would a V8 4.0L sound. Anyone got any ideas cause i think i want to give this a try? ? ?

I had 3 inch straight pipes on my car, and I thought it was way to loud for a driver, but thats my oppinion.

How an engine sounds on straight pipes depends completely on it's compression. My '50 has a very low compression straight inline 8 and it doesn't really get very loud with dual straight pipes from the header back, but the Lexus engine is much higher compression and will be violently loud with the same setup.

sorry for the wrong posting, i thought since it wasn't actually a performance mod, i thought it wouldnt belong there. my bad

U guys think you could post up a video link to a straightpiped SC cuz i was lookin all over youtube and i couldnt happen to find the one you guys were mentioning. Im still kind of up in the air about it but im leaning towards doing it. I just get mad when these foos in loud *** mustangs and evo's roll around

I'm at a school with SLOW internet connection, but if you google "sc400" or "sc400 exhaust" you will find a couple.

If you want loud, then get yourself custom straight exhaust with no cats and flowmasters...with straight pipes all you get is loud unrefined sound.

HOWEVER:
-If you are a cop or don't EVER get hassled by cops,
-Live in a secluded area/Have no neighbors,
-Don't ever come home late at night,

Then, you can do it I guess...you know those garbage trucks? straight pipes will be much LOUDER than that

See im afraid its gonna be that loud on person, i listened to a couple of them on youtube but you never know how it is in person. Cuz theres ppl who say its gonna be louded than a garbage truck, then theres others who have done it and say its a nice loud rumble, but not too loud. Now i just dont know whether or not to go through with it, cuz there really is no going back. Anyone else wanna lend a helping opinion?

it's all personal preference. i like the sound of a V8 matched with a straight pipe. As in no res, cats or mufflers. Some people call that noise. It all depends what you want.
