Default swapping ecu, question.

after doing the R154 swap, i'm thinking of swapping the ecu for an IS300 manual one. what exactly is required after doing the swap? can the immobilizer be reprogrammed and how easy is it? I have to go that route nw since i'm showing codes, and my year doesn't come in manual tranny, i also have a vvti

i think you can man. you may want to go to my.is and look there for info. you might be the only one on here to do a vvti r154 lol. The ECu does not control the immobilizer. its got a seprate ECU for that. so dont worry on that. i am pretty sure the plugs on the ECu should match but check on the IS forums over at www.my.is

I did a W58 swap on my 99 SC300 I also have code but the good news is that DR.Tweak Makes a Transmission Simulator that makes the ECU think that the AUTO Transmission is still installed. I was going to try the ECU from my IS300 in my SC300 to see if they were interchangable but when I thought about the cost factor of getting a IS300 manual ECU and then to have the keys rechipped it was just not worth it for me when I knew down the road I was going to be doing an engine SWAP

Way Way cheaper than IS300 ECU & Keys Rechipping

Turbo819, thnx for your reply. I pm'ed Dr Tweak and he told me i was better off going with the IS Ecu, he also told me that tranny simulator was "experimental" for the SC. Now, are you absolutely sure that the simulator works on the 98+ SC's? Have you tried it yourself? Is there any codes whatsoever right now? Finally, what codes did you have before? Please understand that i'm asking all these question just to get to the bottom of this and find a sure solution, not to put you on the spot or be critical of you. Again, thnx a lot for your help and i'll be waiting for your response.

BTW, according to Tweak, the simulator is 110, which isn't bad.

97, welcome to the club brotha LOL Try taking 15 units < not GE courses either>, working full time, relationships and trying to work on your car <then unbelievably putting the clutch backwards LOL>.

The R154 is one noisey tranny, but i still have the auto hole open. Shifting is okay, not the smoothest <don't forget the shifter bushing like i did>. Let me tell you, i can't wait to turbo that s##t..

I Can not say that it works 100% because I did not use it on my car.
Dr.Tweak is working on a HYBRID ARISTO / SC300 Harness with the transmission Simulator for my car and I should be getting it this week. So until I install it I don't want to say it works 100% or I try it out first hand.
My five codes ( PO753 - PO758 - PO1755 - PO1760 - PO1765 )
I feel that with the right resistor this problem can be solved. I did not want to spend the time or money trying to solve this problem when I knew that I was going to be doing a engine swap. The problem is when you remove the Automatic Transmission and Replace it with a 5 Speed the ECU is looking for infomation the shift solenoid as seen from the Check Engine Codes
My five codes ( PO753 - PO758 - PO1755 - PO1760 - PO1765 )

DTC CHART
PO753 - Shift solenoid "A" Malfunction (Shift Solenoid Valve No.1)
Trouble Area
Open or Short in shift solenoid valve No.1 circuit
PO758 - Shift solenoid "A" Malfunction (Shift Solenoid Valve No.2)
Trouble Area
Open or Short in shift solenoid valve No.2 circuit

(a)Soleonoid resistance is 8 OHMS or less short circuit when solenoid is energized.
(b)Soleonoid resistance is 100 kOHMS or more open circuit when solenoid is not energized.
I hope this helps
