Default Front Bumper Sensors for kits

I am getting a Jic Magic kit. I am usually off in judgment when I park and knowing how delicate fiberglass kits are.....

I was wondering if anyone has done one of these? I searched and got very limited information.

This kit has sensors that mount under or inside the bumper so supposedly there will be no visible sensors on the outside. Just wondering how well this will work with a fiberglass bumper. It looks like this kit was intended for a plastic bumper liner.

Inside Bumper Electromagnetic Sensor Kit

Instead of drilling holes in your bumper to be warned of obstacles when this kit has an electromagnetic sensor (uses Electromagnetic Waves as opposed to Ultrasound Waves).

It is totally concealed by sticking the strip sensor on the inner surface of the bumper. The installation does not change appearance of the bumper while provides total protection to the vehicle without any blind spots close the bumper.

The system is automatically activated when reverse gear is engaged. An Electromagnetic field is generated by the strip sensor around the bumper. When an obstacle enters this field, the electromagnetic field suffers a perturbation that changes in relation to the distance of the obstacle. The perturbation is detected at a distance about 80cm away from the bumper and is transformed into an acoustic signal that increases in frequency as the obstacle moves closer.

# Improves parking safety
# Minimize bumper damage
# Indicates object distance with different beeping frequencies
# Easy and concealed "inside bumper" installation of the "Antenna"
# Peel & Stick "Antenna" foil tape sensor for vehicles with non-metal bumpers
# Electromagnetic field changes as objects get closer to the bumper
# Wires to "Reverse Lamp" (12 Volts DC)
# Works on plastic or non-metal bumpers
# High output Piezo buzzer alerts you with a beeping sound
# Detects objects at 3 feet or less

It's supposed to be for a rear bumper but I can set it up for the front.

Again. Anyone have any experience with this?

looks good, have no experience with those but how would it work for the front if it gets activated by shifting in reverse? 1st gear activation would be a hassle in bumper to bumper traffic unless you find a way to bypass it with a switch. Again, good idea, hope it works..

Excellent idea. Ive always liked how the newer model BMW have them. It would be real nice to have them on an SC.

Very good point mr2tosc4, I hadn't thought about that. I'm also interested in seeing if anybody has had this type of work done.

looks nice but i'm rarely concerned when I back up. Its parking in my garage that scares me with my kit or in a parking lot

u should get a back up camera but instead mount it in the front, and instead of it turning on at reverse, have it just turn on when u feel like it, with a switch. that way u can be the judge!

you can hook it up, but instead of hooking it up to the reverse lights just wire it up to a toggle switch.

That's what I have in mind if the Sensor is too sensitive. Ill turn it on to park.

I wish.

OK So... While glassing in the sensor I reinforced the crap out of the lip so hopefully it won't crack anytime soon.

Here's a Video of what I did.

The sensor kit was like $50

BTW Club Lexus should do their own calendar too.

Let us know if this works... I'm doing this too, I'm painting my car and installing my kit soon, it's not a replica kit so i would like to keep it for a long time. The problem is I might be leaving the country and my GF wants to drive my car when I'm gone. I know for a fact if I let her drive it without a sensor, she will end up cracking my bumper within the first week.

I like that the kit doesn't require holes to be drilled, however, the beeping will drive you NUTS after a day or two, my friends mom has this sort of kit installed on her CRV and the sound absolutely drives me nuts! The worst part is people outside your car can hear this too! It makes you look like an idiot who cant park.

I'm actually looking at ones that has light indicators indicating distance, the light goes from green to red as it gets closer, I wanted to install the 2 (front and rear bumper) light indicator around the cluster area. So far however, the ones that i found requires drilling.
