minimum offset for supra brakes
Hey I have just installed supra TT front calipers and love them they are awesome but now I am thinking about winter and don't really want to be driving around in the snow and ice on my work rims. What is the minimum offset i can get away with if i put 17x8 rims on my soarer? And any suggestions on what cheap rims i can put on? I am going to scratch them for sure so i don't want to spend lots of money
The stock ones don't fit and I don't want to use supra rims because winter tires for them aren't cheap

I know that, you need about 70mm to clear from the rotor to the back edge of the spokes but I also know that the stock supra turbo rims are +50 offset, i want to know if i could get away with +40 offset or whatever
it depends on the wheels.
the supra tt wheels are +50 but the spokes are close to the caliper.
i was able to fit a rota p45r 18x9.5+30 with the ls400 bbk without any issues in the front. if those wheels clear the ls400 calipers then they would also clear the supra tt brakes.

you can even find some old school work gtu wheels with a really low offset like +23 that still will clear the bbk. its not the offsets but rather the face design that makes the biggest difference. if you go buy wheels from work they have the same wheel with multiple face designs. one will give you more lip, while having less caliper clearance and vise versa, while still having same offsets for both setups.

Brake clearance has little to do with offset but has everything to do with spoke design and disc type...You'll need a hi-disc type wheel to fit supra TT brakes...Some wheels might have spokes that concave outward, where you can get away with a mid-disc type...Cheap alternative are any 95+ LS400 wheels, Supra wheels, G35 wheels, etc...Overall, you need a minimum distance of 2.75 inches from mid-inner spoke to rotor...
and any of the TL a-spec wheels with the 5 split spoke face (they had them in 18x8.5 and 18x8 both with +45); these are though, OEM bbk's, so i doubt they'd fit some of the more hardcore aftermarket brake kits like project mu
I think LS400 wheels (95-00) should work, should be pretty cheap and plenty of tire sizes to choose from. I know they work with LS400 brakes (duh) but IDK about the Supra brakes. Pretty sure they will clear though.
