I recently bought a 2J but not knowing that there were differences in the 2J (except the GE and GTE, obviously). I figured this out when i tried dropping it into my SC and noticed the rack and pinion interfering with the engines oil pan and not letting it fall in place. So i did my research, and saw that the GS and IS's 2J have the oil pan in the front and the SCs and Supras have it in the back. Now, my question is, does the upper oil pan off of another 2J (SC or Supra) fit my engine considering i have a GS engine? A friend of mine told me it does, and i believe him but i just want more opinions, and be 110% sure cause i'll buy this piece at the junk yard and its not gonna be cheap and once i buy it theres no going back

 

GS and IS front dip pan. SC and Supra rear dip pan. You need the correct oil pan and craddle for these applications.

 

while you are there pick up the oil pick-up tube there as well. They are interchangable.

yes it fits but the sumps are different and the pick up are different as well

 

thanks a lot guys! i bought the sump, pan, baffle, and pickup. i also needed an engine mount and the timing gear cover. Picked all that up for 175
the Sump fit perfectly

 

oh and a great suggestion is if you reseal the bottom end you toyota black sealant its 40 a tube but its by far the best sealant i've used

 

Thanks for the suggestion but i already have everything sealed. I dropped the engine today Pretty much all i have left to do is connect everything and buy a radiator and throw that in there as well. Also connecting all the vacuum lines is gonna be a head ache, I'm already having a hard time
