Just finished my S&S headers yesterday. Extreme pain the *** job. Haven't really got a chance to get a good drive in yet. Did go WOT a few times and it seems a bit quicker, idk if thats in my head though.

One small problem I am having is since my car is lowered it feels like the downpipe is scraping speed bumps. I hope some more PSI in my tires will cure this.

Some slight modifications were done to make them fit btw.

so i got my car back, the power is definitely there. however, i still have issues to deal with. the header and steering shaft is still present so i gotta find a way to deal with that. i'm thinking of shaving a little bit of the shaft just enough to clear. secondly, still gotta find time to try and find the hole where the oil dipstick pipe goes into. thirdly, gotta find a way to clamp down the egr to the header, the threading on the header isn't a normal thread type.

You may weld a big nut or washer to the headers to hold the oil dip stick.

SC400's dont seem to have a problem with the check engine light. I know for sure that the OBDI models (92-95) dont have CEL after installing the headers. I also know that the 96 and 97 models (OBDII) didnt have a problem. The only untested ones are the 98 and 99 models.

OBD1 95 and under shouldn't turn on the CEL as long as you keep the rear o2's plugged in or at least put a resistor in the heater side wiring.

OBD2 96 and up. I don't have one so I can't say for 100% sure but I imagine you would get codes p0420 (cat bank 1) and p0430 (cat bank 2) since the cats are removed and they are monitored by the ECM. You could move the cats or install some aftermarket cats.

I customized my exhaust pipes to "H" setup, and the cel light came on after driving for a few days. My car is a 98vvti. My next step is to redo the pipes to "y" or "x", and hopefully the cel turns off. I've even kept the cats on too. When the IMF headers come in I will definitely like to hook up everything right, egr, probably relocate cats (still debating), etc. I hope it will not give me any problems.

Alright fellas, I'm seriously shooting for the 1st week of April to install the IMF headers onto my sc400 98 vvti. I know most of you have been waiting to see the results, and I'm sorry for the delay. I will have the entire garage in April to do the install. I'm also thinking about just jacking up the car with jack stands in place to install them. It'll be a little tight, but I'm sure it's do able. What do you think KC?

It's a pain to take out the stock headers. The driver side's clearance is horrible. I ended up pulling the engine out because it's much quicker than to remove the subframes.

Yeah man I hope so too. I'm shooting for 335hp crank with a few mods including this one. Then drop a 65 shot to make it 400hp!
