Default Camry Throttle Cable???

So after doing some searching I have realized that I can use a 92-96 Camry throttle cable for my 92 SC with the 1JZ swap. But, does it matter 4cyl or 6cyl, and cruise or no cruise? I need to get the car up and running asap, and this is going to be the only option that I can get my hands on quickly.

Any info or a part number would be greatly appreciated!!!

Ryan

Yes you can use the 4-cyl one. I am using it on mine right now. You need to bend the bracket forward a little bit though, or else it'll hold your throttle open a little.

Does it matter if the Camry had cruise or no cruise?

No, the cruise is controlled by another cable. You need the Supra MKIV cable. It attaches to the black module on the left side of the engine compartment.

So if I wanted to keep the cruise on my car I need to use the Supra TT cable instead? I have a Momo wheel so I don't have cruise right now, but might hook it back up later.

Since you have the Camry cable on your car, do you think I should just wait it out, and order the Supra TT cable instead? It seems that most are doing it that way....

Yes, the Supra TT cruise cable is the one you need.

And you can go either way with the Camry or Supra throttle cable. I just went with the Camry one because it was about 40 bucks cheaper. I'm not sure if the grommet that attaches to the firewall is the same for the Supra one though. Maybe someone else could chime in, but the Camry and SC grommet are identical.

Thats good info. Thanks!

Does anyone else know if the grommet for the firewall is the same on the TT cable as the SC cable?

just an FYI i just bought the supra tt throttle cable from the dealer... it was the wrong cable if you are talking about the one that goes from your pedal to the throttle! the correct terminology is the accelerator cable. i had to return and we were trying to figure out why it didnt work for a minute

if you see my link you can see that the "throttle cable" has no way to attach to the pedal, even my invoice says throttle cable, when i reordered the correct part it is accelerator cable, which thence connects to the accelerator pedal.
I also noticed that correct part for the accelerator cable is the same part number that was listed on a faq here in CL as the "throttle cable"

So is the part number 78180-1B090 the correct part? When I pull it up 2 listed say throttle cable and one says accelerator cable, all with the same part number?

yeah i think normal mechanics and shops will label it as throttle cable... my guess, but from what i just went through, in the toyota system it is technically accelerator cable.

Throttle cable = 35520-24060 (wrong item)
Accelerator cable = 78180-1B090 (correct item)

Not to be so hardcore about it.. but I am at work with a scanner and the INV so here it is..... Notice the throttle cable is being returned on this inv, and the accelerator is being purchased. Again my link above will show you the pic of the cable.
