why an SC
i love my SC, but what drove me to get it before when i was looking around was that, i knew i was going for drift. and everyone had 240's and i always liked being different. so it's like hey buy a sc, there's one in D1 so it's possible! now the ppl that i slide wit know me as the crazy guy that slides the heavy *** car, lol.
Peace out
Peace out
Cause i saw SC Gone Wild.. no lie i was thinking of doing a swap for my 240 untill i saw that video then i was like i gotta get one, sold the 240 picked up a sc, LOOOOVVEED the way it handle even though it may be heavy it was a BIG upgrade from the 240.. first thing i did i pushed all the buttons.. plus they dont get stolen easy i believe, you can throw a 2jzgte and the cops dont haze you as much.. best of all its a LEXUS! then some idiot hit me.. now its gone... but hoping to get anther soon! It was amazing how i walked out of that accident not injured.
Luxury Sleeper is the way to go, while all my old high school friends went on to get Civics, Integs, Preludes, I wanted something much more refined, and had lots of potential in it. Evo's, STI's, G35, 350z = Overrated.
You can't say an SC is overrated, that's blasphemy.
You can't say an SC is overrated, that's blasphemy.
I've always thought they were cool cars.. and I know their fast.
Theres a local shop where I live, owned by this petty cool dude named John, who has an SC over 600+Hp and I used to see him work on 800+Hp Supras all the time; he's got another SC there also.
So I knew I'd have a place I can trust, to work on it.
I had only ever owned cars I either hated or a Lancer that I loved, but wasn't (and never would be) an Evo, so I was tired of all the money I put into it to make it as cool as it was, but knowing it'll never be fast.
I didnt want an Entry Level car anymore either.
So this time 'round I was planning on getting something I could afford, but that I knew Id like, and which would be "worth" modifying, like an Eight-Six or a 240SX.. but I couldn't find a GTS Eight-Six (only SR5.. So I'd be in the same position as with the Lancer, vs an Evo) and the '98 Body Style 240s where too expensive.. So by default I wasn't even looking for SC's, figuring it would cost even more..
So one day, I was bored and said F-it, and browsed all different cars (affordable or not,) and that's when I stumbled upon this '92 SC-300 with a nice exterior, in seemingly good shape for $2700 on Craigslist.
I called the guy, and asked about it, and decided to go check it out..
Im tellin' you, this car was CLEEEEAN.
It included All the Options (Telescopic Steering, Heat Seats, Trac Control, You name it..)
No Engine problems (He included all Maintenance Receipts), Interior was in shape, Exterior was perfect, except for one small flaw, and its that the Driver Door slightly taps the Fender when you open it so ya gotta be gentle (Anyone have any idea why?) but its isn't major; other than that, the Power Mirrors don't work..
To me... Those aren't big problems IMHO.
Everything else works fine, and when I test drove it... WOW!
The car has 194K on it, and it runs like 50K, w/ No Leaks, No Odd Sounds, Nuthin. Its Quiet and Strong.
I looked at a few other SC's and they were either unreliable at some ghetto dealership (Im in the Philly area) or asking $3000+ in not as nice a condition (dents, etc. ..but which isn't bad really, 'cus it shows the value of these cars..!)
In the end, I talked 'em down to 1800 Bucks! & bought it that same week.
Eh.. Its an Auto, & I wanted a Manual, but for $1800 I couldn't turn this down.
I'll either trade it for a Manual or do a Swap.. whatever.
Now I finally have something with real potential that'll be an investment after I mod it; 'cus Im sure once its hooked-up & pretty, I can resell it for way more than what I paid...
If I ever even sell it <3

I can say that it's a very fun car to drive, great on milage even, tears down messed up gravel roads....
BUT, it's still NOOOO SC!!! Which is why I've kept mine!! Sc is great for long trips, wrx is great for the twisties/mountain roads/ice/snow/gravel....
I love BOTH cars

wanted an inexpensive car that is still nice and easy to mod. Selling my evo and will soon have a 2ZJ-GTE SC300 with all updated everything and still have money in my pocket/no car payment/lower insurance/a LOT more low key.
My uncle gave me the SC I have now. It just sat since he drives his 2GS ever since he opened a cafe with my aunt. The 2GS could handle to big bulk items they get from Costco everyday.
In the end, I love my SC. It's my first car, and I respect it lots both for its power and build. I literally plan to keep it until the wheels fall off. It's a beautiful car, and I get a lot of compliments from my peers.

Was looking to buy either a Z32 or an R33 Skyline (late series GTS25t) as the Soarer was always out of my price range at the time. Then I took one for a test drive...
7 years later I've owned 2 Soarers, with the latter being a mid-97 single turbo update series model with the colour combo I've always wanted (black/black). Now she takes pride sitting pretty in the garage as its prepped for a full makeover. Very rarely is it driven anymore (since purchasing my Cressida lol) but the smile on my face after taking her for a drive is life no other (well, short of driving a DB9 I suppose).
