So i was driving back to socal for the summer and halfway to socal i felt like i hit something. I stopped at a gas station and low and behold the engine fan was completely gone and it broke into pieces and it pierced my radiator and coolant was everywhere. I had to take triple A for 125 miles i was just wondering what could have caused this, it also dented my hood from the inside and there are engine fan pieces everywhere

Serpentine belt snapped? Bad bearings? Fan clutch?

 

probably the pully came off. this happend to me but luckly i just started the car.

 

I can understand your pain. First your front bumper and now this? I had the same thing happen to me. My crank pulley looked just like BIGGU's. Thats why I dont really like 2 piece pulleys. I did mine and my brothers SC. The pulleys ran about $300 from the dealer. A better aftermarket one would go for about $400-$500 from Titan Motorsports. But yeah do show the pics. I'd like to get a better understanding about what happened. Good luck to you!

 

nope everything is intact all the pulleys are there the only thing missing is the fan its like the fan just broke apart by itself

 

thats scary... time to get a new rad with electric fan

 

thats really scary...was your plastic under cover on when this happened? maybe something bounced up and hit the fan. Either that or the fan was previously damaged and it just finally failed. Dont know anything else that could cause it.
