Default Wind in doors?

At speed, do you guys get wind in the compartment underneath the door handles?

I recently got my car worked on and now, I get cold wind rushing into the cabin from the compartment underneath the door handle. I haven't really noticed this before. Any help either way would be nice.

Hey Mosh:
No can't say I have felt wind coming in anywhere. The weather here is real cold so I would be aware if it if there was a leak. Did you have work done on the door(s)? It is both doors?

They worked on both doors. They replaced my rear-view mirrors on both doors. Now, there is wind in the said compartment. I don't know of the passenger's side. But the passenger door doesn't close tightly either. There is almost a half-inch gap at the top of the door to the roof.

Inside the door there are two service hole covers which cover the access areas to the speaker and the inside door opening. These appear by the pictures in the shop manual to be covers that would isolate and insulate wind. The manual says they have a peel off adhesive to secure them and should be sealed. It may be that they were either not installed or sealed well when they buttoned up your door.

The door is adjusted for fit in forward and rearward and vertical up/down via the body side door hinge bolts. There is also adjustments for door in left and right and vertical adjustment capabilities witht he door side hinge bolts. It appears they had to remove the door to do the work on them and did not do the necessary adjustments for the correct in/out and up/down fit.

If I were you I would bring the car back to whomever did the service and bring this to their attention.

These adjustments are illustrated on pages BO-29 of the 1993 service manual volume 2.

Also, in the front of the door inside the jam there is a rubber flexi tube for the defrost and wires. This should be attached to keep air and water from entering the door. This boot or flexi-tube is located near the front door hinges.

Hope this info helps you?

Thanks Red. It does look like they had to take the inside paneling off. I noticed that my interior trim doesn't really stay flush with the actual door anymore either.

I will have to take my car back to them.

These are the same guys who said my door has wind noise (toward the top), because of new seals. They said it was pushing out on the door. In fact, they adjusted the door improperly -- the door is leaning outward.

Not in my doors, but I've been having wind come through my windshield at one pin point area and only noticeable at higher speeds (70mph+). It's not coming through the vents, I've already checked, definitely outside air through the base of the windshield.

To take care of door and sunroof seals, shouldn't I use a nice sillicon spray on a rag and wipe the seals down? I figure when the weather gets better they will expand a little.

no one has figured out how to reduce the wind noise. i think its one of the rubber seals around the inside of where the door closes. i want to know which seal is the better one to replace to try to resolve the wind noise from my pass door area. my wife said she hears it from the top area of the door.
any other ideas please. i want to go buy the seals i need to try this out, maybe the old seals are kind of flattened out thru the years.
