Default Boost and Transmissions?

Hey Team,

Rather curious to know and have been searching and prowling for a while now. I just purchased a 1991 Soarer and will be driving it home on Thursday, but have a few questions on what I should do just to get a little more power and fun out of the 1JZGTE.

May sound stupid but Ive only dealt with single turbos, would I need two boost controllers? One for front and rear? and which should be turned up or not?

Also, What 5 speed bolts up to the 1JZ as well as the stock driveshaft? so I can get rid of the Automatic slushbox?

Thanks a lot guys,
Spence

I still am having a lot of trouble finding any answer.
Who has done a 5 speed swap on a Soarer and can I search them? Id be really interested in what it takes and whether its worth it. I sortof have a concept of what needs to be done, but no idea what parts I should hunt down?

From what I've read the stock turbos only go so far. I believe its best to just throw a single turbo on there and call it day...

If you search you'll get more info. Its been covered a few times. You can also search around on clubna-t.com

From experience boosting my twins @20 psi since i owned this 1j proves to be reliable .Just make sure you have bpu mods to support it .Ive noticed the twins only going bad when aftermarket y pipes are installed .

You can locate a soarer r154 in bc if you know the right people .Im using a supra r154 for my conversion ,Im in the process of converting it to a soarer r154 because my engine guy quoted me 1500 for a soarer r154.

Sounds wicked, Im gonna have to search I hope I dont need a new driveshaft and crap. Seen a lot of that BS with some other cars where its the same vehicle but tranny and driveshaft are completely different.

Finally picked up my Soarer on the 11th. It will be a daily driver Ill build a seperate beasty car later on, but I really love it and hope for the best with it.

auto driveshafts are different from manual on these cars. and depending on what transmission you go with (w58,r154,v160) will also require a specific driveshaft setup. for example my sc300 came 5-speed but when I did a 1j swap the r154 tranny splines are bigger than the splines on the w58 tranny splines. so i had to acquire an mk3 front half of the driveshaft and mate it with the stock rear half. the guys on here are right just keep searching, fyi all the info you need will not be in one thread so do some real good research and listen to any advice people offer.. trust me.. I didn't, I paid.. good luck.

Id love to put a 5 speed in, but it would probably cost me a lot since I assume Id need a Clutch Master, Slave, Tranny, Lines, and Pedal setup and then some other minor things.

However I did a few brake spool and auto pre-load launches today and it was rediculous, I know the car is heavy and this may sound noobish but I havent been in a car that took off that hard... My gut still feels weightless.
