Considering MK3 W58's are a dime a dozen, what is the difference between that and the SC300? size? tailshaft? bellhousing? I got some info, but not what im looking for it. I probably missed it because I swore i have seen this thread before LOL.
the mk3 w58 has a 7m bell housing so you need to source a w58->2jz bell housing...i would think it would be somewhat difficult to find but maybe not. never had to look into it. already got a w58
the trans will bolt up with the right bell housing. the shifter location is too much forward for the SC so you will need to modify it. i heard the mk3 w58 is a bit weaker then the SC/NA mk4 supra w58 but i cant confirm.
are you swapping your Sc400 to manual or is it for a different project? if its for your car i would say go with an r154 from a mk3 supra. they are dirt cheap or at least what i can get one for
i would say go the same route that Blizzy is going with his car...even if you dont boost it.
Damn it, how did I post it here LOL! Where's the ban hammer!
Its for my car. The thing about the W58 is the price of the adapter plate and tranny. If I can find the right W58, the total cost of swapping my car will be around $500-$600 + tranny. Makes it very affordable. Friend already has the stuff I need basically.
I was looking at the R154, but Blizzy has been busy with moving that I cannot confirm where the shifter will lay on a 1uz. If its in the perfect spot, beautiful. But I wont be using an new bellhousing, just a plate. THe R154 adapter plate will cost me a lot more than the W58, needs to be thicker, therefore cannot be lasered.
As you can see, I have been given much info that its contradicting with eachother. I have NO idea where the R154 MK3 tranny will land. I know where the W58 MK4/SC3 tranny will lay, thats it though.

Isn't Blizzy's car an SC4? His thread definitely talks about where the transmission sits, I thought.
