Default ODO acting weird.... it goes back!!!

whats up CL!
i have a 92 lexus sc300 and its an auto.
anyway i bought this car last week from the dealer and it had only 91628k miles on it and i realize that ODO goes back to the 91627 when it hits the 91630.....
my RPM dont works and my speedo works sometime its goes on and off
and i heard thats most common problem on sc300/400.
right now im starting to freaking out because odo is going back to 91627....
i have no idea whats the true mileage in this car and wut the hell dealer did to this car n stuff.....
any suggestions???

there's no real chance that car is actual mileage. Might want to try contacting the previous owner by vin lookup at the DMV before it is too late. You might have a case against the dealer for odo descrepency.

Where did you hear that?

Check to see if that gauge pod has been pulled...look underneath the top part of the gauge pod...Two covered mount holes...make sure they are not all scratched up from being pried open.

Like O.L.T. said, you might want to contact the previous owner and run the VIN before it's too late. That is not a common problem at all on the SC300/400s. Good luck, man

I was actually referring to you saying it stops working, which is different from stopping lighting.

i suggest you return the car back to the dealer from which you bought it. who knows what other problems youre gonna have.. this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I have the same problem....but my overdrive light also flashes off and on for no reason.

I think this problem is due to an incomplete circuit = bad ground

it seems like the gauges work fine,is just that power comes and goes....give inaccurate readings.

Im gonna trouble shoot this problem soon....if all else fails,Im just gonna get my hands on a 97+ cluster

i had almost the exact same problem. the problem for me was a loose ground. if you take off the center console, there should be a bunch of wires that are all grounded together. make sure they are properly grounded and secured. i think whoever installed the cd player in my car, forgot to tighten down the ground.

hope this helps!
