Default SC difference

I know the people on this forum are very knowedgeable so does anyone know if there is any difference in the SC's from 92 to 95, not meaning bodywise, just mechanical? Thanks for any info, this forum rocks. I forgot, SC400's.

Mechanical, no difference. Body, only the taillights.

Yes there are differences, start at rich's site linked above and see how much you can gather from there.

I know you people would pull through for me, thanks so much!! Maeve, I've been on the 430 forum from the start, just bought a SC400 about 2 weeks ago, great car so far. This replaced a Hot Rod 93 Lincoln that was cherry but was rear ended Dec. 18th by a hit and run chick in a pickup truck. Smashed the whole rear and both rear quarter panels so it's toast. Had a ton of money in the car that I won't get much out of, oh well, getting the 400 takes alot of the grief away. Thanks again!

There are some differences. The way I see it, no two SCs are exactly the same. With the 5spds, I know there were like 3 different versions of the W58. Some SCs came with no Auto turn-on lights. But Rich pretty much did a great job of covering this subject on his very useful site.

there is a difference... my 92 motor die on me so i swap in a 95.. if i remember correctly, you don't see as much vacuum host on the top of the motor, then there is a difference between the two AC compressor plate and couple of other stuff....i think the tranny too...one has temperature sensor wire and one doesn't then according to my mechanic, since there is this temperature sensor wire difference, the setting of the traction control is also different. The swap kinda kick my @$$ in the end.

EDIT: My bad, I misread, you are not highly misinformed.

Lol if you are saying there are no mechanical differences between the years of the SC's then you are highly misinformed and should not be dropping it like it's a fact.

The link gets in detail, but a big mechanical difference is the 98+ came with VVt-i

There are some subtle differences between the '92 model and the '95 models...The only ones I can spot would be...

1) The '92-'94 model has "cornering lights" (which requires you to rewire the wires just to even get "pseudo" (fake) foglights) instead of "actual functioning" foglights (like that of the '95-'96 model).

2) The '95-'96 models have a slight line that goes across the foglight lenses and an actual factory switch for it too, Whereas the '92-'94 models do not.

3) A '95-'96 model has different "sexier-looking" tailights from that of a '92-'94 model.

4) The inside of the '95-'96 model's glovebox has a slightly different layout than that of the '92-'94.

5) A '92-'94 model has "Plastic" highbeam headlights (which eventually turn yellow), while the '95-'00 models have "Glass" (which don't turn yellow) which makes the '95 and up glass highbeams so sought after by people that own '92-'94 models.

So in conclusion?....

'95 > '92
