Default Installing an OEM lip without the brackets

I recently bought a SC400 OEM lip, but I don't have the mounting hardware (frame brackets, bolts, washers). I was wondering if you all think if it will be fine if I install the lip without the brackets. Do you all foresee any problems?

When I had the lip on my car, I used 6 bolts (from home depot) and double sided tape. Stayed on with no problems.

The brackets and frame help to keep the shape of the spoiler and provide reinforcement for the mounting points. I would try fashioning my own brackets out of some sort of metal strap since you're missing the oem ones. Otherwise it will look warped and may run the risk of tearing more quickly should you impact any tall parking blocks and such.

I tried installing mine today, and it's much more of a pita, than I thought it'd be.

I'm guessing you need to cut holes in the stock bumper to mount the bracket up?

I might be letting the body guy do this one.

you cant mount the lip without the brackets. just sell it to me and dont waste you r time JK

you should be fine without the brackets as long as you dont hit chit. if you hit stuff then it might tear out and then youre screwed.

Basically the center will mount no problem, but the sides will sag without something holding them up.

I should be more clear. the sides also will bolt up to the bottom of the bumper cover no problem, but the top sides of the lip won't stay flush without the brackets or something else holding them.

I might try again when I have more time, since I do have the brackets...

I don't think you even need the brackets if you can get it lined up exactly right when you cut the holes in the bumper cover. You should be able to use a nut/washer/bolt to hold it on.

I'll post up some up close pictures of the brackets later today.

he knows what hes talking about from experience^^^^ but if you use double sided tape that would be fine too. '"for the top ". but if youre a crazy road killing driver , you need brackets bc the road kill will take revenge on your lip

Actually, there's Gorilla Snot double sided tape. I'll give it a shot.

if you put a screw on each side, at the ends of the lip it holds up too. for reinforcement. screw it through and into your splash guard.

Good idea, I see what you mean.

I found some Loc-Tite double sided tape that should work.

Are the brackets no longer available? Or are they outrageously expensive?
