Default Need Help!!! Obd2

I have searched on this forum for a few weeks now with no real luck on a solid answer I have a 96 sc300 that is OBD2 and I have a 1jz that is OBD1 I dont want this to turn into a nightmare so I need to know what problems can arise and has anyone done the swap successfully.

From searching I have learned that some say the swap will not work.....

Some say it will work with no problems.....

Some say it will work with the check engine light on........

Please help me out guys!!!

Also if anyone knows how to properly extend the 1jz harness for the swap let me know, I am willing to pay!!

I want to get this engine in but have held off on starting my project because of this OBD stuff!!

Your car is not obd2 ,the engine is......... .When you pull the engine out and do the 1j swap it will be obd 1 . I did it to my 97 sc and all went well. Drewgo has a obd1 1j in his 99 sc and everything works perfect also .Oh yea this thread in in the wrong section.

Hey thanks for the reply man I don't know why the tread was locked but its cool. My other question is will the check engine light be on all of the time? I had another member tell me that there are plugs that are not going to be plugged in and that will cause issues as well as splicing that I need to do to make it work. I was going to buy a harness from another member but this is what he told me.

Here is the convo:
hey man, i was looking in to the 96+ (obd2)swap. looks like it'll be a PITA to get it to work functionally and i don't think my harness will work cause its from a 92

well from what i see. the dash wiring is different for the obd1 cars because of the diag port. ill look in to it a bit and let you know. might wanna post and ask other people what they did with there 96+ cars and 1jz's cause i dont believe there was ever a 1jz with obd2 you might have to get a US spec 2jz harness and ECU and use that.. but yeah ill look in to it and let you know.

bump... woo havent been on this site in a while, i know this perticular topic died a few years ago but i ran into a 96 sc300 in much better condition then my 92.. In my 92 i swaped in the 2jzgte.. Now obviously theres a ob2 on the 96 but what exactly do i have to switch over form the 2jzge 96 to the 2jzgte from japan.. ?
I have a 96 camry with the 5sfe cal specs and and hyrdrolocked the motor and found a 92 motor with cal emissons, and the only big difference was the crank sensor and oil pump housing containing the crank sensor.. im assuming this is going to be the same thing i have to do on the 2jzgte to convert to OB2? give or take a connector or 2? Thanks guys
