*Can you get into your car and drive across the nation, state, region without fear of it not making it?

*got those struts changed!?

*Stop your SC from missing or loping!?

*Is your car smoking or knocking?

*Got those worn out ugly seats fixed!?

*Got that busted speaker changed!?

*got some new tires yet?..

*get your tranny and diff. serviced lately?

*Is your power steering pump still leaking?

*When was the last time you changed your plugs, wires, caps, or even your OIL?

*Are you mats torn, worn and need of replacement?

*does your dashlights work?

*Does you interior look as good as new again? need a shampooing?

*Is your wind shield cracked?

*Is your steering wheel a mess?

*When was the last time you changed your brakes?

*New pads huh... what about the brake fluid flushed?

*Radiator services, thermostat changed?

*Did you get the AC fixed from last summer? It will be hot again in a few months!

*Does your heat work? It better it's cold outside!

*Are the rotors warped or need of turning/shaving?

*Is your paint CRAPPY? Need a buffing?

If your car has ANY one of these problems STOP worrying about racing, turbos, S/C and 0-60 times and focus on perserving your SC to it's proper condition... I want a sweet looking ride that is plush, posh with the pananche of a $60K car... That drives, looks, feels, and rides like a SC... Focus on fixing a problem with your car and bringing it back to glory... Then you can make it perform better...

The monies we spend on mods/rims can get that older Lexus in mint condition before we know it... If you have a new Lexus keep it that way...

*Can you get into your car and drive across the nation, state, region without fear of it not making it? Probably.

*Stop your SC from missing or loping!? Never done either.

*Is your car smoking or knocking? No.

*Got those worn out ugly seats fixed!? They're still like new.

*Got that busted speaker changed!? Don't have any busted speakers to change.

*got some new tires yet?.. The potenzas are still good.

*get your tranny and diff. serviced lately? Bought 9L of Toyota ATF today. Tranny flush very soon.

*Is your power steering pump still leaking? Replaced by previous owner.

*When was the last time you changed your plugs, wires, caps, or even your OIL? Oil change happening this week.

*Are you mats torn, worn and need of replacement? Nope.

*does your dashlights work? Most of them....

*Does you interior look as good as new again? need a shampooing? Looks great.

*Is your wind shield cracked? Definately not.

*Is your steering wheel a mess? Nope.

*When was the last time you changed your brakes? Dont know.

*New pads huh... what about the brake fluid flushed? Good idea...

*Radiator services, thermostat changed? No.

*Did you get the AC fixed from last summer? It will be hot again in a few months! AC works!

*Does your heat work? It better it's cold outside! Heat works and heated seats are nice too.

*Are the rotors warped or need of turning/shaving? Can't say they are.

*Is your paint CRAPPY? Need a buffing? All waxed up nicely.

This is a great thread. I just got my car a few weeks ago so I'm trying to cover all the bases as far as maintenance goes. I'm doing a tranny flush and oil change this week, and brake pads + fluid sooner than later. My SC is 15 years old and runs great, and I plan to keep it that way.

I will spare the copy/paste and just say that my SC is in top shape, just had the 60k service. Only the lil things now remain...

1. Replace trunk struts
2. Fix small sunroof rattle
3. Hidefood leather treatment
4. TSX Projector Retro
5. Fog Light Retro
6. New Exhaust Tips

Then start saving for the Air Runners and my SSR Vienna Dish EV's...then the AVIC-Z2 with back up camera, XM Nav Traffic...GS Wood Steering Wheel...wait I'm rambling...

I think the first question that every SC owner and every car owner for that matter, should ask themselves first is:

How good are my tires?

When was the last time you checked the air pressure on your tires?

Are there enough treads on them?

Are my tires capable of handling in every weather condition that the car drives in?

Are all my tires the same tread and brand?

Are there any patches on the sidewall of the tire? if so replace tire immediately. (This sounds like a retarded question but I have seen tires with patched sidewalls).

I feel that tires are often overlooked or people do not realize the importance of good tires. I myself have overlooked the importance on tires and this was on my first car which was an Acura Integra. I purchased new tires thinking i would gain better traction on a FWD car if i put the new tires in the front without realizing the back tires were bald. Driving on the hwy on a foggy morning the back gave out and i ended up spinning out doing a 720 on the hwy, inches from being hit by cars. I am lucky to have escaped without injuries just a bent spindle from a rock on the side of the road that the back wheel hit and managed to completely stop the car. I later realized whenever changing tires it is always best to put any new tires in the rear, and also a lot of people have lost their lives in car accidents involving blown tires or bald tires causing cars to spin out and even flip over.

My point is, Tires are your only point of contact with the road on any vehicle and they should be the first things that are checked and maintained. No point in upgrading engine components to make the car go faster if it cant stay on the ground.

I do agree with this thread all the money on mods and more hp should be spent on getting the car to run safely and correctly.

Just ordered new cap/rotors sets and new coils b/c of this thread--- I replaced the plugs and there is still a hard start prob. and a slight miss when sitting still and revving to about 2800-- Wires say "shizaki" or something-- maybe yazaki-- but they're not oem-- so I think they're about 30k miles old--

I hope to see a big difference with just that stuff.
