For those who have not seen my car,
interior: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=303827
exterior: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=225011
It's a 92 sc4 200k with the 2k conversion, custom paint, and evo 18's. Mechanically stock.
I was looking at the dropping price of Sc's and trying to decide if it might be worth more in parts than as a whole. This is not going to happen any time soon, but by summer I am likely going to replace it with a 98+ since I have had this one for 6 yrs. I'm trying to make a game plan for the switch.
If I sell it outright next summer I'm going to make it a clean $5k no haggling, so I'd have to meet that in parts sales and it seems hard to do.

Time is not a factor. Only money. I drive the Benz and that's really why I want to get a 98+ to get me in something comparable to my newer post 2k benz.
I agree with sc300max. Your time is obviously worth something (and you only live once). If you hypothetically make $35/hr at your job, and it takes you 30 total hours (it would probably take longer) to take apart your car and conduct the sale for each individual part, you have effectively lost $1050 in opportunity cost alone (which means you would have to net $6050 on the parts in order to make what you would have otherwise made by selling the car whole at $5000). Add in the aggravation of shipping, haggling price with all the buyers, and it's pretty apparent to me that it would be a losing venture.
Unless you like the likelihood of losing money, aggravation associated with selling the parts, and using time you will never get back taking apart your car, my vote would be to sell it whole
Plus, you will leave one more SC400 on the road!

You could definetly get what you want for that car hands down. Its clean, im sure it runs fine and it looks damn good!
If for some reason you end up parting out I call the fog lights if no one has. =P

You are much better off selling it ouright.
Take a look at the major items of the car...
97+ kit: ~$1500 on the open market
Wheels: ~$800 on the open market
Lights: ~$700 on the open market
Now what? Most of the other parts lack a demand and are significantly less valuable, especially coming from a car with 200k miles. However, if it is a mechincally sound car, that is much more valuable together than it would be parted out individually.
You will absolutely get every penny of $5k without a hitch on that car if you sell it outright. Parting out the car will struggle to make that, and while you could make more, the probability is not significant enough to justify a part out (in my opinion).
