Lucky me
I just bought another 1992 SC300 from a friend who hunts cars. The passenger side door doesn't open at all from inside or outside. It is black on tan and has charcoal OEM wheels with red brake caliper paint. It has a new K&N filter in it.
CarFax came back clean on it. My buddy found it at an estate sale for $2,000 and I gave him $2,100. It seems to be very well taken care of minus a few nicks and such...and the door.
AC doesn't work, the door as previously described, and there are a few aesthetic objects that are unappealing.
I think I got a pretty good deal. No leaks, clean oil, no suspension knocks.
If I took the door problem to the dealer, what might that cost to fix?

Oh no....he's no scammer...haha. He's a good friend of mine that I have known since grade school. He actually works for Hummer in Mishawaka in their IT department. A side job for him is to flip cars, but with this one he thought of me since he kind of owed me anyway. I only gave him the extra $100 over what he paid to be nice.
I'm excited!

The dealer told me about $180 to get the door open and unstuck and to diagnose what is wrong. After that, he didn't know how much it would cost.
I'm hoping less than $1,000. No one around here will do it because they don't want to risk damaging anything else, and the dealer is the only place I have contacted that has done the procedure before on the same car, so I have some assurance with them.

do not roll down your window, you may break the rod.
door panel will run you, 175 shipped.
do not take it to the stealer, they will rape you.
The door doesn't open from inside or out. I do not have time to do this myself with other conflicts. Apparently, whoever had this car before was driving it, the window would roll down 3/4 of the way and then stop. They then told my friend that the car one day made a noise inside the door as if something fell off and hit the bottom of the door inner. The window now rolls down and up all the way and properly.
It's probably the linkage assembly that needs to be replaced.

yeah your rod has probably bit the dust,
you shouldnt spend more than half of what you bought the car for to fix the door problem at the dealership. my advice to you if you dont want to fix it is flip the car and buy one in better condition for a couple thousand more.
it is not likely this is the only problem with your car, just wait i find new problems all the time cause i bought a fixer upper.
you might have just bent the rod if your lucky and might not be that hard to fix, either way its gonna be you or lexus breaking something to get the door open
