Default Installing a spoiler - any advice?

Guys,

About to install a 97+ spoiler on my wingless 93. Anything I should know before I start? Is there a mounting kit available or anything?

Advice: It goes on the back of the car, not the front.

Further advice: consider drinking heavily before doing it so you won't be nervous.

I installed a <MY97 spoiler on my then spoiler-less trunk and I came across a neat trick through my searches (AHEM). Someone advised to put grease (i used white liquid hand soap) on the tips of the bolts that stick out the bottom of the wing. Position, give it a tap on the trunk, and viola! marks for your drilling pleasure! Gave me much more confidence when busting out the drill...

You should just swap trunk lids with me.

remember to install it pushed back as it should be OEM with a slight overhang, many 97 spoilers are installed incorrectly lined up with the rear of the car up too far on the lid...i know first hand when i had one on mine installed.

For what it would cost in shipping it probably wouldn't be worthwhile...

So it should overhang and not be flush with the edge of the trunklid? How much overhang are we talking? Do you have any pics?

Thanks everyone,
Jonny

You'll need the lamp failure module for a car with a spoiler and to disconnect your sub cover brakelight. The car is prewired for the spoiler.

Does the module just stop the light on my dash from coming on? If so, I am not worried about it - I already have most of them on anyway

Does the plug from disconnecting the sub cover brake light plug into the spoiler? Or is the spoiler one just hanging in there?

Thanks man,
Jonny

Yes, that is all the module does. The spoiler connector is different from the sub cover brakelight connector. It will be hanging there, maybe tied or something- it's been a while.

DX3, this is what it looked installed incorrectly on my car in the past:

it was kind of difficult finding a profile pic, but here are some from reamemiya's thread:
