Default Flapping / Shuffling Noise... ABS???

My car: 92 SC400, 188k miles, no check engine light or any other warning light on at this time (knock on wood) bone stock with exception of aftermarket wheels.

Ok...now that that is outta the way for future reference in regards to the following, here is my dilemma this time. I get this flapping, shuffling noise from somewhere around the center console area or behind the glove box compartment. I have not been able to pin its location down really good yet. It seems to be a mechanical noise that sounds very much like an ABS system going through its self test mode everytime you turn on the car and drive it at or above the 7mph mark (at least on my brothers Acura Legend). I dont know if any of you have ever witnessed that sound, but it sounds identical to it.

Do our cars go through that ABS test mode when turning on and driving them? If so, where is the ABS unit located that would emit that sound (hopefully it will help me pinpoint or narrow down where the sound is coming from and identify it as the culprit)?

Now it had never done it before up until a week ago. Any help or suggestions would as always be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

about the only thing behind the glove box in that area in the cabin is the a/c blend doors and actuators - could potentially be one of those...

try messing with different a/c settings and see what happens...
