Default 97 sc400 ride problem

Ok the car is completely stock. When i hit a bump it feels like the rear of the car is wanting to swirve left.. Only when i hit a pretty descent size bump. I live in louisiana so there isn't a shortage of bad roads here.. Anyone else have this problem? All help is appreciated..

Could be dead bushes. Either that or a dead shock. My old Soarer used to do that on coilovers (both dead in the back) but the spring rates were HARD too so I don't know if that contributed significantly to the problem.

Welcome n00b!

First thing to do is get your car aligned... I had the same issue and an alignment fixed it.

I heard that NTB will give you a free alignment check. All they'll do is check your alignment and tell you how bad it is. They'll just give you the print out. I gonna go to check it out tomorrow, and see if this is true. My Uncle told me so we'll see how reliable his source was.

I have another question though. It's a little off topic but oh well. I was driving the other day about 1/2 hr. after a rainstorm, and I was turnin onto my streetand hit an oil slick or something and I slid right into the curb. Now my steering wheel is turned to the right. As in, in order to drive straight I have to turn my wheel to the right. The alignment seems all right though. When the wheel is turned to the right and I let go the car drives straight, it doesn't pull to one side or the other. It's just that the steering wheel is now turned to the right while the wheels point straight. Does anyone know what happened with my steering?

thats part of an alignment... hopefully you didn't bend anything... when you get the alignment checked, you are going to see that at minimum the front toe is entirely out of whack...

Well thats what I had figured too, but the confusing part is that it still drives straight, w/o any pull to one side or the other. I've driven a car w/ a bad alignment and I doesn't feel like it. Thats why I don't know what happened. Oh well I'll leave this one up to the professionals.

not too much of a suspension guy but from my experience it probably is the bushings or shocks

there is a difference between a "bad alignment" and a car out of align... I have worked on many peoples cars that, after doing the alignment asking them if the car pulled or drove weird, and they said "no, everything was fine" and then showing them specs that are more than 1 degree of toe out of spec... thats the kind of stuff that wears tires out in weeks, not years... another example is a car setup for the track - it'll drive perfectly straight, but wear out tires like nobodys business...

Well I think that I can tell if the car is pulling or not, I've been extremely busy and haven't taken it in yet. I've been driving a diff car for the time being, so I haven't been putting any wear and tear on the tires or the steering, if there is something crucially wrong there. Hopefully I'll be able to free up some time during the day to drop it off. For now though I just hope that I screwed up the alignment so that it is driving like a track car. yeah right.
