Default Final questions about lexus SC400

I will be purchasing one this weekend if everything works out..
I went down to the place and test drove the car... everything feels fine its just that the gas pad feels really really heavy.. like its really hard to press down.

This is the car's info

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=218122101

Is there anything else I should be aware of? I am going to have another test drive soon
THank you guys so much

Typical wear problems would be the suspension bushings which are mainly the LCA (lower control arm) bushings and rack bushing... In addition LCD blackening on the climate control cluster may be an issue...All trivial but stuff to look for..... Uneven inside rear tire wear is evident on alot of these vehicles as well...

If it drives straight and nice, idles perfect, and the brakes feel good it's probably a good buy with only 100,000 miles on it...Also make sure the timing belt has been changed even though they can go for about 150,000 miles or so...

Check for the driver door sag, the hinges over time can't support the doors weight on these cars...Some cars it effects and others they don't..

Get a carfax report and have it looked over by a mechanic if you really want to feel secure with the purchase...

If you look at the carfax free page there, it has 14 records in the database. So this could all be minor stuff but I would still buy the carfax report just in case.

have u checked the driver side floor mat? when I first test drove my car from the seller, I had the same experience with the gas pedal only to find out that the top end of the floor mat has curled up under the pedal preventing to press down further....it might be something simple as that

Shop around - there are better deals out there, especially for 400's (go 300 : )

It's easy to get antsy when you're about to buy, but if you take your time, you'll be glad you did.

If you have your heart set on this one, take NYLexSC's advice and try talking them down. Otherwise you should be able to get a similar ride for closer to 8k. Probably even lower.

Yea that price seems kinda high. Although it does look to be in excellent condition. Don't let the fancy wheels fool you.

My 96' came from AutoTrader with 80,000 miles on it for $9000.

I would say that price might be a tad bit too high. The wheels are nice, but not worth that much IMO.

As for the gas peddle....check the floor mat. They like to get up under it

It looks to be in great condition. I would try to get the price down a little bit, if possible. I paid $7989 for my SC400 w/ 129k miles, one owner and garage-kept. The wheels look great on it and the car's color, pearl white, is very pretty and clean. The inside and outside both look great. It's a very nice car. I WANT IT!

Ironically, I found my SC4 on AutoTrader, too, linked to a local dealer's Web site. I was just searching google and yahoo and it was one of the first local Lexus' I found. I test drove it the next day. It's in great condition, too.

Ask the dealer for the CARFAX report. They should have it. My dealer did and let me see and have it.

Some dealers try to be sneaky and leave the gas tank nearly empty. Mine had a 1/4 tank when I received it which I was a little annoyed about, considering how crazy gas prices have been.

Also, about the gas pedal issue you noticed. I don't know if I have the same problem but I also have an issue when you first begin to push the gas pedal down. The performance feels kind of sputtery/sluggish at first when you push the gas pedal down lightly but then begins to pick up a lot better but only when you push the gas pedal down fairly far. This might be a maintenance issue, like spark plugs, etc. Anyone know what this most likely is? Is this the same problem you noticed or is it different, you think?
