rust on rear brakes anyone have a solution
I used to go through a lot of trouble with the masking myself- then I said the hell with it and let the pads do it.
Be assured that any contest between paint and brake pads is over the first or second time you apply the brakes.
Brakes do squeak, but it sure isn't the paint causing it.
besides, it only takes a few minutes to tape up each rotor...

The few times I tried masking off the areas of the rotors swept by the brake pads, I had trouble since the straight masking tape has to be continuously curved.
So I decided to instead just be careful with the paint spray nozzle and avoid the unmasked rotor area, leaving just a few small spots of overspray that the pads quickly obliterate once you drive the car.
That's because the engine paint remains soft initially. It is supposed to be heated in an oven within ~12 hours of application to cure properly- impractical unless you are removing the rotor (and like your oven smelling like paint).
