Most anything made by Ferdinand Piech's minions - VW, AUDI.. - are going to be unreliable. Good cars, but unreliable... you must consider the kind of miles.... if it's a turbo, how was it maintained, etc. Could be a bargain assuming the thing's just been driven a lot, and not driven into the ground.

If it just has highway miles... GO FOR IT!!! My sister in law has a 99' Jetta( same basic set up minus the AWD) that has 89K on it and it run as strong as it did from day one. Without any problems except a ner battery and 2 headlights changed... She has not done any maintenance at all:eek: and the car is great so far...

I ditto that, VW are known to be somewhat reliabile, but Audi aren't. Check out the Customer Reports, the truth is all there. Audi doesn't have the reliability, infact most German cars don't.

I would stay away from it. I know a few people who have had A4's and they have their share of problem.

When people tell me about the problems they're having with those cars,I just tell them they "Audi get rid of it".

I had a privilege to own 96 Audi A4 Quattro.

Besides a quite few "little" problems like:
valve gasket leaks
warping brake rotors every 15K miles
suspension problems, don't remember details
cathalic converters failing
arm rest cover hinges braking
inside door open handle not working
radio failing
seat rails braking
and more I don't remember right now, all covered under the warranty.

Two months after my warranty expired my Audi developed first gear (manual transmission) shifting problems, it was very hard to put the car in the first gear when seating still, I decided to loose the car for something more reliable, and I got 95 SC400.
