Default Buying a SC400

I am recently looking for a SC400, I live in Southern Califonia. I was just wondering what the prices are. I don't really mind about the years, mileages around 100,000~120,000 will be acceptable. Can anyone give me like an underestimate price? And also I have couple questions that I was concerning.

1. Since this car is gonna be purchased at a very high mileage. Does this car cost alot to maintain?
2. How well does this car run? According to one of my friend that have own a SC400 for 2 years with current mileage at 131000 around, he said the car runs like its new, and he barely had any problems with it. What do you guys think?
3. Was this a 50k dollar car back in the day? lol
4. Is it possible to swap in a manual transmission into this car? I've seen couple of the SC400 with manual transmission and left hand drive. Does it cost alot?

I'll post up more questions when I come up with em. THanks!

Yeah, I can give you an "underestimate" price...........$100.

Price totally depends upon the year. Do your research on cost by looking at what out on the market right now.

No. You did not see a SC400 left hand drive manual.
If you saw a left hand drive model it was a Soarer. V8's are automatic only. Swap is very possible and very expensive.

How well does the car run? I think your can answer that yourself! It totally depends upon the car you're looking at!

Go to the top of every page here on CL. Use that beautiful search button.

LOL, the SC400 in the last model year of 2000 was over $60,000. My invoice for my SC300 in 1993 fully loaded was $39,000. And figuring KBB states my car is worth $8,000 at retail (from a dealer)... that's prety darn good for a 14 year old car with 100,000+ miles...

I've got the original window sticker for my 99 SC4. All options, list price $61,600. I just bought it two weeks ago, 8 years old, 54K miles, a truly fine example, the seller's garage was carpeted...just under $20K.

My first SC4, a '93 that I had for 5 years, sold new in '93 at a premium since there was a waiting list, for about $45K. I bought it in '02, with 83K miles, for $16K.

When you're looking for a car, try to find one bone stock, adult (old person!) owned, with good maintenance records. With cars of this quality, condition is more important than mileage.

You'll find a lot of ebay beaters out there for $5-6K, but you can find a really nice early model for around $9-10K. Take your time.

if you buy a new cluster then it wont show the cars true mileage? like if my car has 100k miles and i buy a cluster out of another sc that had 200k.... if i installed that in my car, my car will show 200k miles?

I bought my 92 SC400 from a spoiled single mother in Orange County who owned it since new. Service was kept up to the extreme. Car had 160k miles, but it was always garaged and looked great. I paid $5k for it. It's about to hit 200k miles and it runs like an absolute champ.

Good luck!

Yes, my SC 400 feels like I'm driving a new car, no problems or anything. Try to get one that has had the 100k mile maintenance done, etc. or it will cost you around $2k for the 100k maintenance. The SC I bought was at 130k miles and still hadn't had the 100k maintenance (needed major tune-up/maintenance) so it costed me a lot more money than I was wanting to spend right after I bought it.
