There are alot of 2JZ-GTE's on Ebay and was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to pick up an Engine for about 3K? I got a 1992 SC300 and looking to do the swap, My goal is a daily driver with about 350RWHP or so, nothing to insane.

 

I picked up my engine/tranny set from JHOT Imports. They often list 2JZ-GTE engines on ebay for around 2.2K ... very clean engine and reputable seller. Jarco is another reputable company that sells GTE engines for around 2-3K.

I purchased the "2jZGTTE" from "www.nagasakijdmmotors.com". The rep there was pretty freaking smart and actually knew something about the motor. It costed 1650 shipped to my little hole in the desert called Yuma, AZ. They had to call me back becuase they were concerned about the Oil Pan Location. They said this oil pan's Sump is forward instead of rear. Is that ok? The 2JZGE's oil pan I have in the lexus would fit the GTE if I'm not mistaken, but would like some clarification of possible :P. I can build a Honda in a weekend, but I'm new to the Lexus and falling hard for these beauty of a Car.

why do people want USDM over JDM? is it anythign else besides the wiring?

 

So is that the wrong motor? Thats not the Supra engine? I am fairly new to Toyota/Lexus, but I was trying to get the "320" Hp 2JZGTE... Was I misinformed?

 

I got my engine from Tokyo Motor imports, and I would NOT reccommend dealing with them. They sent me the engine 2 weeks AFTER I paid and me calling everyday, and they sent me the wrong ecu, and now have to send me money to buy a new one.They're based in canada. Don't deal with them. EVER.

The engine itself was in decent shape, but one of the plugs were broken, perhaps in shipping, and it didnt come with MAP sensor or igniter. FTL. Clublexus helped me more than they ever could have.

 

the JDM 2JZs are front sump. your USDM oil pan will fit on the JDM motor, but you will need to drill for the oil feed. there is a space there, just no hole.

as for USDM over JDM, the supra had larger injectors in the states 550s vs. 440s. the JDM turbos are smaller and ceramic so they will not handle as much boost. the cams on the USDM motor are also a bit more aggressive.

i would much rather have the USDM motor simply because i dont want much more than stock, but if your doing a lot of mods, i would go with the JDM, its cheaper and more than likely, you would replaced all the weaker components.

Well I had some extra money to spend, so I bought the GTE so I wouldn't dwarf myself in the long run. It'll be nice to be able to work on the engine while still driving my stock SC300. I'm now looking for an Intercooler that'll fit the SC300 well, and will handle in the 400 range.
