Hey all, I have a 95 sc400, need an lsd, dunno what to go with, some one mind pointing me to a website i can buy or look at them?

in for more info. Was going to do the tt lsd full rear end but I'd rather have something new for that kind of money. Also want to keep the sc gear ratio

 

i heard mkiv Supra LSD are really good.

 

are planning on drifting or auto-xing your car? If not you don't really need 2 way. Most auto X guys just use a 1 way or 1.5 way. I haven't heard of any OEM ones besides the supra Lsd and the JDM GS300 VLSD.
You could also get the diff welded

 

Yeah im planning on drifting it, 1jz swap 5spd, been in the drifting scene for years, had a 88 240 for a while...but have always wanted the lexus, saved and saved..bought one...then 1jz...NOW i need lsd lol so what im hearing TRD? im looking for a 2 way if possable

 

So would the Supra TT LSD just mount in place of the SC3 Rear Diff, What about the stub axles. I have access to a Supra TT sitting at a shop, I was thinking of picking up the rear end but what exactly do I need from that supra to make it complete. Sorry for Hijacking the thread.

 

The MKIV supra TT LSD just bolts in but you need to use the sc driveshaft flange.

What is the differeance between 1/1.5/2 way lsd's?

 

No.

Only the Auto TT LSD from a Mk4 Supra will fit. The TT 6 speed differentials are litterally LARGER to handle the higher stress loads on the unit from the more direct power delivery of a manual transmission.

If you switch out the whole pumpkin unit itself, you will have to swap companion flanges and what not, but other than that the Auto TT LSD is a direct swap (some auto N/A's may apply but that option on a wrecked N/A auto is near to impossible to find).

1 way is only acceleration limited slip action.
1.5 way is acceleration and a little deceleration limited slip action (not enough to really tell a difference though its more stable under braking)
2 way is full acceleration and deceleration limited slip action

Honestly a 2 way system is the best. It gives the most control of all three.

The 1 way is good for drag racing
the 1.5 way is good for drag and street driving for your average "spirited" commute.
The 2 way is full action so it gives you maximum traction under braking and acceleration and also lateral slip (drifting etc..).

i am going to bet money that this is a full track car. With a 2way LSD your going to have alot of trouble during your city driving. Since the LSD is giving power to both sides equally. Your tire wear is going to increase. Also durring the rainy seasons, using a 2way turns driving very difficult. Since you always have power to both wheels under any condition, Makes the rear slip alot easier which is good for drifting or serious sprited driving. Not for the city and track i would go with a 1.5 way. I have that on my Supra. It makes driving harder but not as hard as a 2 way would. Both great LSD set-ups but i would not go 2way for the DD use.

 

Thanks for clearing that up and sorry for not mentioning the Auto. TT's only. I knew that and should've made it a little more clear. I think i will go with a 1.5.

 

You can drive fine in the rain with a 2way or welded Diff, you just gotta be careful

Keep note that 2 ways diffs are quite noisy so you might not like hearing it all the time, but the locking feeling of it is no joke.
