Girlfriend gets new Rack.....
Lowered cars suck!!!....broke the steering rack case in half from a dip in the road followed by a nicely placed raised manhole cover...... Its the girlfriends car so Ive been eating takeout for the last few weeks
and talking to myself alot.ended up putting in a few new suspension parts as well so that im not in the guestroom for much longer!!
Drive safe
OUCH! I hear that...I usually swerve like crazy when I see those things...I'd rather get some bodydamage from the next car over, and have insurance pay for it, than to break something under the car.
I learned that the first time I ripped a huge gash in the bottom of the tranny on my 'ol Hyundai...LOL

.... and you pay for it? You gotta be kidding me. If there is a manhole sticking out like that make the city pay for it. You won't even have to sue them. It's okay if these are hole you can drive over, but if there is a manhole sticking out so much then it's not your fault. Someone I know drove over a manhole like that and he made the city pay for the repairs. It's pretty nice.
on going debate here.... I needed to get the car fixed ASAP plus it was all done inhouse so there was no labor charge... only parts..at cost.
....She did submit the info to the county ...but it may be more of a headache trying to recover the money...and i kno0oooow my attorney wont touch it.
So we will see how it plays out......would be nice if they payed but not gonna hold my breath.

I took the city to small claims court. The car was "changed from factory specs" therefore due to my negligence the transmission was destroyed. I didn't even have a chance. My lawyer told me this from the start...but I tried anyways.
Now if my car was factory height and this happened...THEN they'd be paying.

Yeah, That sux ....I dont even want it to go that far...But I do think that it wouldve happened even at stock height. ... I know there is an allowable height that a car can be lowered to by law here in this state....
We were out doing testing some new parts and REALLY driving the cars hard. I really shouldnt have had the car out on that stretch of road because construction was being done there...I just didnt see the dip
The funniest part is that the testing went without a problem.....it happened while driving 'normal' on the way home

Put in a claim in the city where the manhole covered was located. A friend did that with the state of california because of something on the highway that cause him a flat. That paid him some cash for his tire.
Even if it's only parts it's something.
