ECT. When do you use this function
I use it always, I've noticed slightly improved gas mileage when its on compared to when it isn't.
some people use it only on the highway, as it makes passing easier because the downshift into 3rd gear will occur with less throttle input. Other than this, it doesn't do much. It holds each gear a tad bit longer when you are on the throttle, and downshifts to the next lower gear with less throttle input compared to having it off.

Well the main reason you use the ECT button is if you wanted to test how fast your gas gauge drops from a local trip to the grocery store
.
mkorsu hit the nail on the head, it keeps your rpm's up, therefore your acceleration is slightly improved due to a higher shift point...

lol judging by the fact that it says "power" when you turn it on, i can only imagine that it uses more gas mileage, i dont know how you would be under the misconception that it INCREASES gas mileage
but interesting explenation on what it does exactly, i never did quite know, i'll def be sure to turn it on next time someone is reving their engine next to me >:-) haha
THANKS!

I am under that "misconception" as you claim it to be because it happens to be the result with me. Believe me, I've documented it back and forth with several tanks of gasoline, and low and behold everytime I keep ECTPWR OFF I have to fill up about 22-23 miles earlier than I would had ECTPWR been ON.. That translates to roughly 1 mile per gallon. Like I said, I drive the same route to school everyday without fail, and I don't generally drive anywhere at all on weekends.
