I have the same thing. It's kind of a musty smell I guess. I am not sure what it is.

I just stumbled upon this same topic in another thread and apparently there is a place for a cabin filter on the '93+ SC's (mine is a '92 and there isnt a spot for one). If i understand correctly, many, if not all sc's did not come with the cabin filter but you can get them at the dealer. You should see a compartment that you can access from inside the glove box. Like is said, there probably wont be a filter in there when you first open it....but get one and install it and the funky smell will more than likely go away. I think????

I can smell a gasoline/exhaust-like smell when I am parked for any amount of time.

You guys need to search more. Heres the link http://web.ace.net.au/soarer/air_con...er_filter.html
Its under and behind the glove box. I think the link is for a jdm soarer but Im pretty sure its the same, just on the other side for us.

i doubt just installing the filter will get rid of the odor, it may help but you need to kill the mold, which is the cause of the smell. i recommend getting this stuff called ozium, its in an aersol can and you can get it at most parts stores. it isnt an odor mask, it kills the mold and bacteria inside the heater core leaving no smell at all. i used this stuff along with replacing the cabin filter in my 92 sc300 and now when i turn on the a/c there is no smell. all i did was spray the stuff inside the compartment for the filters, closed all my windows and let it sit. the next morning it was gone!

ps, if you have a pre 96 sc you will need to modify the filters to get them to fit.

Surf Pro i believe does this for like 100 Bucks. They use a special machine that utilizes ozone to remove the smell. Iv'e used the ozone stuff from stores and it only helped for like a few days...smell came right back.

I get a little smell from the A/C but it could simply be my gas after eating Taco Bell...I haven't figured that one out yet....
