Default How do you wind up the window regulator cable?

I read through as many posts as I could find but I didn't see anything very detailed about this. I've got the bad regulator out and the new lexus part ready to attach to the motor...but I released the tension on the spool. How the hell do you get this thing to wind up and pop on? Anyone have any pointers?

As always....thanks for the help.

Brian

the ends that slide over the actual regulator and lock into place once the spool is wound are SO TIGHT that you'll likely be there all night trying to get them on. If the spool is wound correctly and tightly, you will come up maybe 1/2 inch short of actually making it fit.............. the rest is brute force. The springs will allow flex to get you within a hair of it fitting.

It's no cake walk, it's a pain. By the time the springs are compressed to their fullest you'll be JUST out of reach of making it........ that's when you stick the Mo-Jo to it and grunt.

Im having this problem as we speak. i just threw it to the furthest corner of the garage, and came in after trying for 3 hours to wind it. I didnt even know it detached, so when i took it out of the box, i didnt really pay too much attention.

As if i wasnt frustrated enough in taking out the old rail, and putting in the new one... this thing falls on the ground, and unwinds.

Man, I'm so exhausted mentally, and physically.

Any tips?

I ran into the same problem.....and now I know why they have the plastic lock on it when you buy it...I attached the two ends into the spool so both ends are locked in, then I basically did a figure eight and force the thing in....2 hours later I got it....I have to change my other side this weekend, this time I'll remember to look for that plastic lock. GOOD LUCK!

It's a pain in the butt. That's why when I did mine once I said if they ever fail again I'm just replacing them. It's good from an economic standpoint, but once you've done it once you feel like you've "done your time".

When I gutted Leon's car, I pulled two perfectly working regulators out and sealed them in the safe
