Default 92 Corner Light Modification..

Has anyone been succesfull or even attempted to modify the corner light/ housing so that they project straight instead of sideways..Just wondering if its possible to make use of them as straight fog lights instead of buying actual fogs..

Well, if he were to do that then he would also have to purchase a 95-96 front bumper in order for the lights to fit. The bumpers are slightly different between 92-94 and 95-96.

Scoarer: Just take the power wire from the corner light and draw power from your side markers. They should be the same voltage draw. Then you can go and buy some aftermarket led bulbs to put in them. O..also another route you could take would be o just buy a cheap set of aftermarket fog lights. Hiddepot.com has cheap halogen fog light assemblies for only 45 bucks. or spend the $80 or so on a new stock with the switch for the fogs, and run the wires.

I've read this a couple of times and cant figure how it would make his lights point straight instead of out to the sides....I believe thats what he was trying to accomplish. I'm not sure how the angled beam is achieved....if i remember correctly the bulbs mount in the housing straight forward, which would mean that there is something in the design of the inside of the housing that directs the light outward?? Maybe if you had a spare housing that you could take apart and investigate/screw with, you may be able to accomplish what you want.

It's the same voltage (as is everything in the car) but not the same current. If I remember correctly the fogs are 1157 bulbs which are 27 watts each while the parking lights are just 5. That's over 5 times the wattage.

If you are going to want to have these on full-time, run a proper fog light harness with a relay and a fuse. Don't just hack into stock circuits and overload them. You'll just overheat wires and blow fuses.

Also keep in mind the housings are not designed for full-time use. That's a duty cycle they were never intended to see which could lead to burning or melting. Toyota however is very good at overbuilding their parts so you'd probably not have a problem with this. I've seen Ford and Honda parts that melt with normal design usage.
