Default Someone please school me on engine swaps...

hey guys... i'm obviously new hear...

but can someone fill me in one what the usual engine swaps are for the sc3/4?
i know the 1/2jzgte are the usual choices... so my question is... what are the most noticible differences between the two... other that the 2jz havin' another turbo... and obviously more HP... i want to know differences in reliability and HP numbers... also prices and places of where i can have this done in the souther california area... prices on the usual cost of each engine... and prices on the usual cost of the labor. thank you.

First they both have 2 turbos the main difference is that the 1jz is 1/2 a liter smaller a 2.5 and the 2jz is a 3.0. The other big difference is that the turbos on the 1jz don't spool up at the same time. So you get less power. At least until the higher power band. I've seen a 1jz front clip with m/t for about 2-2.5k. and the 2jz for 3-4k or more. 2jz is expensive unless you go automatic then it's much cheaper. As for the swap i've seen quotes for a complete swap for 1k i've also gotten quotes for 3k but just make sure you do your homework on the shop that's doing the work. or you'll pay much more later. 2jz is also known for high hp and extreme reliability. also there a lot more performance parts out there for the 2jz it's just a really popular engine.

I would say to go with a 2jzgte but im bias . What is your power goal and how much are you looking to spend?
