Default Car not starting

When i try to start the car, all i hear is a click noise once. I have recently changed the battery. It was working fine until today. I tried to jump the car and that didnt do anything.

Is it the starter or alternator or what? What can I do. I am selling this car, and the buyer is going to pick it up not this friday but next friday. What can i do to get a quick fix or fix it myself?

change your battery cables...if that dont work try a new battery...the battery cables are prolly corroded....mine does the same thing once in a while....

If you have a voltage meter check the volts from the batttery and then check the volts from the alternator. If you do not have a volt meter. Charge the battery start the car and then disconnect the red (positive cable) If the car stays on then your alternator is working. If not then your alternator is toast.

i tried to start my car, i just hear one click. i have asked 3 different people they are saying its the starter. i have tried to jump it, still doesnt work. i tried to turn it on, and all the lights work. i can even turn the radio on. i dont think its the battery. i changed the battery about less than 2 months ago.

someone told me if i hit the starter with a hammer it might work. is this true? could it still be the battery cables? or the starter?

I would check the battery. If there is a dead or week cell it will power the raido and windows but not turn the motor over. There is not enof amps in the battery for that. If thats ok then look at the NEG battery end/cabel. if that do not have hi resistance the do a statrer draw test.

I had the exact same issue with my SC3. It's probably your starter. You can purchase a repair kit on ebay for $20. Worked fine for me.

if u have a new battery...start by checking the cable of the battery terminals..it might be loose or bad. check for corrosion. if thats not the problem..check the voltage of your new battery. it should be fine tho if your radio, lights, etc is working. then start looking into your starter. yes you can hit it with a hammer or something to just shake it up so the solenoid will make the right contact and it will crank. if it does, then you needto change your starter. goodluck

This is old school. If it clicks, it is the starter. If no noise, it's the battery. Turn on headlights to verify it's ther battery! No lights or dim lights = battery. If your lights are good, then check the cable running from starter to battery. good luck!

I had a similar problem a couple months ago.

Try taking some sand paper on the battery terminals and connectors. These things get corroded
over time. Make sure it nice, shiny and corrisive free. This worked for me and I haven't had any
problems since...knock....knock...knock on wood.

If that doesn't work, it's probably your starter. I read it's not very hard to change on an SC300.
The SC400 is a realy PITA.
