Default Door Trim Fix

So this weekend, I decided to fix the door trim ontop of the interior door handle. Instead of replacing the whole piece, I went to lowes and bought plastic epoxy putty and repaired the section. it feels fairly strong and holds in place, except its white and really stands out from the baby poo color vinyl. what do you think i should use to paint over my repair? also has anyone done this before? because it looks pretty good for a 3 dollar stick of putty.

well...right now its all taped up and drying. the first time i did it it looked really ugly and flaky, because i dont think i mixed the putty enough so the epoxy did not bond with the plastic. ill have pics by tomarrow because it takes a coupe of hours to dry.

anyways. i think this is much cheaper and more practical than replacing the entire door trim.

Default Better than nothing, admittedly...

No doubt it is cheaper, but it's not the same as replacing. People replace the entire trim for a reason.

You'll see for yourself once the temperature changes and the epoxy expands/contracts at a different rate than the vinyl.

The stealership charges a fortune.
TAP Recycling (11337 Dismantle Court, Rancho Cordova, CA 95742) usually has a few from scrapped SC's.
You can call them at 800-765-7100 (or 916-631-7100) and see what they currently have.

Someone posted last year that he had it fixed (not replaced) at a auto upholstery / trim shop, but never posted pics.
