The passenger side door on my SC300 will not open from the outside. It's not the plastic clip, but rather the metal rod that moves up and down connected to the exterior door handle that is broken. The dealer tells me it will be about $280 for the entire locking mechanism as they don't just sell the metal rod. The wrecking yards do not have this piece.

Is there a Toyota model that uses the same mechanism? Any suggestions??

I just replaced my driver side door latch assembly

it cost 240 wholesale 290 retail

The junk yard wanted 150

they brake alot so buy a new one and save yourself some trouble
of replacing a used on in the future.
