Default Red tint for tails?

Hi everyone

I'd like to tint the upper part of my 93 SC tails in red to match the lower part. Anyone with good long term results? Spray or film?

Also, the outer lens looks pretty dull, so I'd like to clean / polish the thing. What do you guys use to get good results?

Thanks

Looking good, LazyAlex. When did you do this, and how did it hold up so far?

Either method works, but the only ones Ive seen that turned out really well are the RSX taillights, any other car tends to have a shade difference.

If you paint, make sure you tape off EVERYTHING that is not the plastic lens itself. that means the black strip in between the two lenses also. If that guy is red, it will look weird. Also tape off the weatherstripping around the light, because that can be seen when the light is installed and again, if thats red it will look weird.

wow, how did you get them to shine so well. was it spray paint from a can? or air brush/ touch up gun?
generally spray paint doesnt do well w/ heavy polishing & overall appears dull.

I guess I'm gonna try the film. On some pics, the paint looks a bit dull. Also, it would be nice if it would stay on for more than 5 months. I'll post my results.

About the polishing of the plexi lens ... any recommendations. I read a lot of posts about polishing the headlight, but not the tails. Same procedure?

Thanks.

i did it with a spray can... i guess im just good at it? lol.. i think racin went back and wetsanded the dull spots, but there werent many to begin with

when using a spray can, use it in burts while moving the can up and down or side to side to even it out.. i think i did 2 coats or so on each taillight.. his taillights came out very nice for the amount of time we spent on them

I used that Candy Apple Transparent Red Paint on a previous car and it looked great. I clear coated them afterwards and also lightly buffed them with a buffer and they shined like new.
