I was at school and closed my driverside door and heard this very awefull sound! Sounded like something broke. Anyways, I drove this girl home and then when driving myself home rolled my window down... and heard that sound again! Rolled up... then down, heard it again! Then I got home... played with it a couple more times, heard the noise a couple more times, and then my window falls! And it doesn't go up or down... I can't even see the glass. Anyways, if anyone has any experience with something like this happening please tell me what exactly is wrong. I don't know too much about cars but my friend said it is probably some plastic clips that broke. I am going to take the door panel off tomorrow day... hopefully it isn't too hard. Or else I might have to just get my mechanic to fix. Thanks in advance.

It's not that hard to take the door panel off.
Take a screw driver and tape the tipe, pry the power window switch/mirrors/door lock thingy up from the front, pull it toward the front of the car, then pull it up and out, disconnect the connectors (two of them, one for the mirror, and the other for the window/door lock)take a screw driver and pry off the plastic piece(at the rear) on your handle, behind that there is nut, take the nut out. there are three nuts near the front edge with caps cover, two nut under the arm rest, three or four below the bottom pocket. Then pull the panel out, disconnect the wires...

Good Luck

Wink Broken window regulator

Sounds like your window regulator may be broken too. I had a problem when a the wires inside my door which connect to the door handle and lock mechanism became loose and the window was crushing it when opened. After a few times the windows regulator broke and then window plopped down faster than I thought it could. The repair will be about $300 for the regulator.

The repair itself is easy...I am in the process of doing it....Ive done it in my max before the problem is the one I ordered has a different connector. Any suggestions for place to buy aftermarket regulator online...i think dealer wanted 150 or 225 i asked for quotes on 2 things cant rememer which he said was one for regulator

its definately your regulator. same thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago. Take advantage of the offer aliga has. I paid 160 for the regulator withot a motor, and that was at a 15 percent discount from lexus. Have fun replacing that and be careful of your tint when you do!

I couldnt tell you whether it would fit or not. Call lexus and see if they have matching part numbers.

and aliga offered you a 96 sc300, maybe he might but i doubt it

Hopefully the window motor still works and it's just the window regulator.
I got the regulator (without the motor) for $90 shipped to Hawaii from Carson Toyota...Ask for Luis Salazar...
The install was simple...
