Default Leather installl.....HELP???

I'm in the progress up installing my seats. I've taken lots of pictures in the hopes of doing a fairly detailed "HOW TO" once it's all complete.

I've hit one slight obstacle. Anybody have an idea of how I can remove the plastic button on
the headrest release? I thought it would have been easy, but I don't want to force it and possibly
break the piece.

I just cut around the old leather to get around it, but I'll need this piece removed to put in the new leathers. Any help would be appreciated.

There should be a tab or clip you push in out. Look underneath the clear/white plastic piece.

Good Luck!

Well, there's no clip. I took out the whole mechanism and here's what it looks like.

The button is attached to the other side with a self expanding whatch-a-ma-call-it.

I tried squeezing it with some needle nose pliers, but it's getting really banged up
inside I don't think there any other way to pop that thing out of there without doing
that.

If you knew how many times this had been asked you'd feel silly knowing how many threads come up in search on it.

Care to enlighten me? I've searched and have looked through at least 10 threads about leather seat installs.

OLT, thanks for the links. Believe it or not, I read all of them already!

There are no answers to my 'specific' question on that damn button. I did
however find this thread:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...eadrest+button

I guess I might have to force that sucker out and buy a new replacement.....

I just left mines off and the headrest adj. still works, just push in the area where the button should be. Still will adjust and you don't have to put a hole in your new leather.

That's a good suggestion. I managed to pull that damn button off. It's not pretty. I'll leave it off
too and see how that goes.

Default Looking forward to those "how-to" PICS!!

That button may be like some of those interior trim panel fasteners- a "one time use only" fastener that is meant to self-destruct when it is removed/cut off. Depending upon its replacement cost, it may fit into that category.

See if you can get a small socket on top of the mushroom head (seems like very little clearance but at times the 3rd dimension is hard to percieve in a photo. Other than a socket you can try a pipe. Since the musroom head looks in a sorry shape, you might check with parts for a replacement and then decapitate it.

I did the same, just left it under the new leather.
