Question AC not working right

So, being in Florida is fun until summer heat rolls around. My AC has decided to stop putting out cold air. Is there something wrong with the compressor or does it just need to be filled with refrigerant or something? Any help is appreciated.

check for leaks, and then check if the compressor is working.

What Aliga said, always check the Needle where you fill the AC up. Mine was leeking and we changed that. IF your not generating any cold air at all, even when filling up it might be your compressor just died on you. i just ordered one from ebay for like 250. and then we put it in ourselves. Hope this helps you.

Thanks. Maybe I can find someone local to help me out on this. I'd gladly pay. Any takers? Scott...Chino?

I'm in Orlando. I actually had one more thing to mention. The air that comes out isn't hot or just the temperature of if you just had the fan running and it was bringing air in from the outside. It's cool, but just not cold. A leak maybe?

You sound like you have partially what i have now. Do this fill it up completely with freon or 134A whichever you use. Turn the AC on max cold. If its cold then youve got a leak, because that willl eventually leak out all the gas, and you will be left with nothing again. If that happens first of all check the needle where you fill up the gas into the system. we found on mine it had a leek and replaced it and walla good as new. However if that doesnt work, check to see if when you turn the ac on if the clutch on the AC Compressor is locked up. That was our second problem and it would start causing a burning odor. IF thats the case, turn ac off, and pull it out, and just replace it. IF thats not your problem then your almost in the same boat as me now. Right now my heater wont engage in the early morning when its cold.... funny that eh, heater wont work when you need it, but when its warm, it works just fine.

It's still cold. I'm not sure where the leak was because I just took it to some cheap place to refill the Freon. That and I have no idea where to look to refill the Freon and this "needle." I just needed a quick fix until my next paycheck. It works perfectly now as far as I know.

It might of just need to be recharged.....If it ends up getting warm again then you have a small leak.....You can always just by a leak patch kit from the autoparts store....Ive used it before its two small bottles, one for metal leaks and one for gasket leaks, you put one in first then the other.....It worked for me pretty well.

So far, it's still cold as hell so obviously a small leak. This may sound ignorant, but I have no idea where to put that stop leak stuff or the freon. Never worked on an AC before.
