A little research indicates that the same parts are used in the 2012 Camry doors, & possibly the 4 Runner.

Here is a picture where i zip tied it.

MAKE sure you line up your metal piece correctly or else it will pop off and your door will NOT unlock which happened to me but i didn't close the door.. TEST as many times as you can, before closing your door..
Another tip try pushing the metal piece to the right and see if it will pop off, if it doesn't then congratulations you saved yourself 100-300$!
on mine the open door light wont go off. i tried doing this before but the doors started locking beyond my control, and it licked me out lol so now im not going through that again. know where i can get this fixed?

I'm gonna go to the junkyard tomorrow and take apart every single actuator I see. I'm hopeing I can get one that matches exactly what our SC is. If not then I fear our only solution is... $300+. For Las Vegas Lexus its $403. :/

This is brilliant! My passenger side outer door handle doesn't work, but the inside one does. Such an easy fix. Great DIY, thanks!

Back on page 17 I posted about losing the rod. I found it, did the fix described on about page 12 I think, but discovered more issues. The entire locking mechanism is broken. Usually not a problem but........all the screws that hold it in (Phillips head) are stripped out.

This is my daughters car (1993 SC300) and she is off at college. I can never seem to be off work when she is home (which is rare). Where do you get the entire locking mechanism.........and more importantly how much does it cost??????

Thanks for the heads up Answer300. I am in the Houston area, but for 10 bucks it may be worth the trip up!!!! I am going to have to drill out the screw holes for the old one to remove it. I want to have the replacement "on hand" before starting. Aren't these unique to driver side and passenger side? I would think they would be just by the way the screws that secure them are oriented. Thanks again for the heads up .

Sorry to bump it but is there a way to get a new rod without buying the whole assembly?

Back to the top . I know that each locking mechanism is unique to one particular side, but how about the years? Will 98 work on say a 95 (driver to driver or passenger to passenger of course). Thanks for any input.
