I have a greddy full auto turbo timer. I have been reading a couple threads after I SEARCHED, and came to realize that there isn't really a harness to wire it up to an SC300. What have you guys done about turbo timers?? Should I just sell it? When I do go NA-T should just lay off the gas for a little bit before I shut the car off?

 

You'll have to wire it to your factory harness, unless you've got an alarm fitted too because they don't relaly like to work together unless you get an alarm with a turbo timer feature built in.

Personally I'd rather wait in the car for however long it takes to cool down. Toyota recommends that the factory 1JZ be cooled down for 20 seconds in normal driving or 2 minutes in hard driving and since I barely drive the car hard it usually only needs a 20~30 second cool down period.

 

So just sitting in the car for a couple minutes with it running is really just as good as a turbo timer?

 

Well, in all honesty I'd much rather drive gently for a couple of minutes before parking to allow everything slow down (engine, transmission etc) and once parked I let the car idle for about 30 seconds if I've been driving locally (or driving normally). The only time I'd let the car idle for 2 minutes or so is if I had to drive up a hill to get to a destination (it's more likely to hit boost going up a hill).

Since my car is all factory I follow Toyota's factory recommendations on turbo cool down time
