Default JDM Climate Controll...?

Hey has anyone tried to use the JDM climate controll in our cars? Mine has the black screen of death and although I don't really want the JDM version (celcius right?) a USDM just went on ebay for $250!!! Which makes buying a clip look $250 cheaper!!!

I don't think it's an issue of bulbs.
Is the LCD display itself gone? Or the backlights to the LCD.

Trust me guys, all I've been doing for the last few days is searching! My cluster has a burnt out black lcd screen which as far as I've searched is unrepairable...

What about desoldering the LCD screen from the JDM climate controll and using it as a replacement...?

A little birdie told me it was reshipped.

I don't see the point in going through a complete JDM swap when if it goes bad (and it will) you'll have to find ANOTHER jdm unit to replace it. It's just starting a whole new headache. Get one on ebay and accept the fact this is how it is, it is a common failure and a new one is needed to replace it. Even with things like needles there is not repair, it is a replacement. I don't see much point in all this trouble for a JDM swap, but I certainly won't discourage you from doing what you want to do.

Best of luck.

Didn't you do a complete swap?

If not then it is certainly year dependent, because the diagrams I received were indicating a totally backwards plug.

Thank you thank you thank you octane! I knew it was possible. Worst case scenario I'll change the lcd's! You just saved me $300!
