I noticed the other day that when I had my front defroster on, my side mirrors had heat going to them. Ice was melting on them.

I cannot find side mirror heaters mentioned anywhere in my Lexus manual, so I found this to be quite odd. Anyone know more about this?

 

the side mirror defrost should come on when u hit the rear windshield defroster, and i m pretty sure about this, at least that's what it is in my car, hehe, i really like that too

 

yup...happens on mine as well (95 SC4) You can tell that there's a heater / defrost behind...in the shape of a rectangle... =) I was surprised when I first saw it....very handy

 

WOW. I didn't even know this. I owned my SC for 4 years!! Just comes to show that these cars continue to have hidden suprising secrets.

I own a 93 SC3 and when I turn on my rear defrosters my side mirrors also get defrosted. I just discovered this about a month ago and I've owned my car for almost a year. I like this feature!

 

i noticed this the other day too......only owned mine a few weeks though, but i noticed my rvm were ice free before my windows were

 

I cant see anything yet because i dont have snow. Still waiting for a really cold night..

 

I have a very early 92 SC300 and it just tested positive for heated mirrors . This car doesnt have a cd changer, but it has heated mirrors... so I would say "Yes, they all have this."

 

Well, my 91 Toyota Supra turbo has that feature also

 

Can anyone find any mention of this feature in the owners manual? Thanks for the clarification on the rear defrost activating this feature.

 

Haven't found anything yet in the manual, but it is on the 92 SC400. Discovered mine about a month ago after some snow. Never even noticed it last winter!

 

this thread is so funny cause just last night there was cold fog and i turned me rear defroster on and what do you know my side mirrors started to defrost also i was in a shock cause my car is 92 sc3 i thought that would have been 95 and up or something like that but i am not complaining
