3uz-fe swap
$1-2k for swap
Tranny? Electronic? For the money spent, how much hp you gain? Total hp gain divided by the amount of money (time too) and you do the math. I think cams and headers will be better then the swap and alot cheaper.

if your thinking of swapping older v-8 for newer v-8, what about the lx/gx/tundra 4.7l? i bet its cheaper since there are probably a few tundras in the junkyard... isnt that the 2uz
i would rather swap that motor in than the 3uz. it offers the potential for big hp and torque gains, plus i believe theres a trd supercharger kit for it, if im not mistaken
... the blast racing sc400 drag car uses the 4.7l v8, produces like 1800 whp or something like that, of course, it is a pro-stock drag car, and nowhere near streetable...

1998-2000 GS400 1UZFE was accurately rated at 300hp/310tq and typically make around 235rwp. The LS400 and SC400s for the same years were rated 290hp/300tq. I believe the LS is accurately rated but the SC retained the early single tube manifold and is probably another 10hp under the LS and performance tends to back this up.
Over all from the cost/benefit perspective an upgraded "early" 1UZFE would yield better results that a 2UZ or 3UZ swap. The 2UZ is heavier being and iron block and only has 2 bolt mains. Its intake is also taller and may not clear the hood line. Any VVTi engine (1998+ 1UZ and 3UZ) would require complete electronic retrofitting just to get the basics working. Spend that same money on the early 1UZ and much more power and fun is available.
Replacement blocks and other parts are still being made of course but the 2UZ and 3UZ were the last of them in production cars worldwide.
