Default 1JZ-GTE or 2JZ-GTE? ..

The question here is not whether I should buy the 1JZ or the 2JZ but more if I should swap my 1JZ-GTE for the 2JZ..

I drive a Soarer and recently found a really descent deal a complete 2JZ-GTE motor. Reason why I might be asking this is because my engine's at about 160,000kms and this is roughly less than 100,000 miles.. should I just keep the 1JZ or swap it? I'm only asking this because I found a pretty descent deal on a local 2JZ-GTE with around 80,000 kms..

Input?

If its a killer deal, why not? Going from 160k km to 80k for a good price should be enough to go for it

Yes depends on price and how much HP you want.
If you like the power levels of the 1jz I would use that engine till it blows.

Post the price you're getting the 2JZ for and we can tell you whether you should truly do it or not.

I'd say do it, and keep it in your garage till the 1J blows. That way you'll get its full life, and have another perfectly good motor sitting there for you..

Agree and, rebuild the 2JZ as it sits in your garage. Perfect opportunity

I was thinking this already.. my garage is already used as storage (random **** from the time we moved in) already and I don't know where to put the engine..

The thing is my 1JZ-GTE is still running A1 cause I make sure everything on and in it is running at top shape.. Might as well put the 1.1k into my 1JZ and make it faster? .. Also the 3.0L would eat more gas if I'm not mistaken? haha

Think about this: will you be kicking yourself a few years down the line for not buying the 2jz at $1.1k?

If yes, then do it!

I say get the 2jz, swap it, and flip your 1jz. You could probably get 8 or 9 hundred for it.
