Even these strong frames are no match for the power the WORKED cars can generate.
Aliga has a REALLY EERIE example right now. A Twin Turbo Soarer that hypnotized me for 30 minutes.
Couldn't stop looking at it and imagining what could have happened. The final damage was a HARD pole hit, JUST behind the drivers head.
Truly EERIE!

Sick motor left tho........ ;-)

Just some subjective stuff here - We'd just bought some nice 18" rims for our SC - on the way back from the airport in Seattle a few days later, I had to slam on my brakes because of a slowdown ahead that'd just happened.

I was able to slow down with plenty of room to spare, but the idiot behind me just smashed into the back of our beloved SC. The impact felt so violent, the very first thing that came to my mind was "Damn, car's totalled and I just paid nearly $1000 for the rims - what a waste!"

I got out to look , expecting the whole rear end of the car to be toast/smashed/destroyed, and amazingly only the rear bumper was destroyed and one brake light assy was broken- absolutely nothing else. It was so gratifying to see how little was mashed compared to what the impact felt like. Luckily (sad to say I had to mention that), the other guy actually had insurance which paid for it, so that was cool.

Awesome car.

Indeed, soarer very sturdy and reliable car. Many examples exist in Russia, when it was an accident, but the damage to the soarer significantly less damage to the other car. But still would like to find the official data.

I usually don't believe in crash test datas. 5 MPH test into a concrete poll, 30 MPH into a wall head on. Real tests happens on the road in reality where anything is possible. A car can have the best rating in all history of mankind... but what gives you the definite answer that you will survive an accident?

Like the Smart cars. They have fairly good crash test ratings for its size. Sure....... I want to see one lose control and get in the way of a dump truck or bus along a highway. Pretty sure that small son of a ***** will be bouncing around all over the place like a beach ball in a crowd.

For the SC having been recognized and award Car of the Year and stuff, I'm quite sure its safety had to had been great.... for that time at least.

My dad killed his 92 sc400 back in the fall. Hydroplaned into rock wall on the side of the interstate. The car was beaten up pretty badly and partly on its side. Dad had to crawl out the driver window. The cabin however was perfectly intact. Sad to see it die but at least I get spare parts for my 93 SC400. (We like these cars alittle.)
